Algonquin Winter Tracking 2011

Monday (Day 3)

Well, back to one of my favorite places, the Opeongo Road...

And here are fresh Wolf tracks, a male and a female, travelling down the side of the road.

The male wolf did some scent marking and scraping here. Presumably his female companion was suitably impressed.
One of the wolf tracks.
Nearby a flock of Common Redpolls were chowing down on bird food left by visitors.
One of my favorite places to hang out. This slope seems to always get the sun, yet be out of the wind.
Then off to the Arowhon Road, another great place to observe bird life.

A Grey Jay. These birds are quite friendly, in fact some would say over-friendly! This one is all puffed up against the cold.

A Ruffed Grouse trail...
And a close-up of the individual tracks.
