Algonquin Winter Tracking Expedition 2009

Wednesday (Day 4)

Today we went on a mini-expedition to Chit Lake cabin.

Along the way we encountered a reasonably fresh set of wolf tracks.

Our leader Dan decided we should try calling to the wolves. So, led by Dan, we all howled our best. But we got no response.

We determined a short while after this that the Wolf we were trailing had headed around a small island to look back at us!

Alexis, our other leader and instructor for the week.
A Black Bear had scraped its claws, chewed on the bark, and rubbed itself on this tree, leaving behind these hairs.

Ice jewels left by the receding water after last week's thaw and rain.
