Algonquin Winter Tracking Expedition 2006

Sunday (Day 1)

The week starts Sunday afternoon. We went to the Algonquin Park Visitor's Centre for an orientation to the park and its resident wildlife.
The balcony of the Visitor Centre overlooks a huge bog.

Down below the balcony (not visible in this photo) was a large bird feeder with chickadees and pine siskins milling about.

Nice view! It was snowing, which was to become a recurring theme for the week.

In the evening the leader, Dan Gardoqui, provided the first of a series of very educational presentations on various aspects of tracking.

These icicles framed the view from the main cabin window, where we gathered and had meals.
