Counter Tracking

Joseph Longshore II

Counter Tracking refers to the techniques of hiding or removing your own tracks as you move through the landscape. It also includes laying down false tracks to deliberately mislead pursuers.

Even if you don't intend to practice counter tracking yourself, it is very useful to know in case whoever you are tracking is doing some counter tracking. There are even stories of animals doing this to throw off hunters.
