Photo K2

Photo K2 shows the animal’s trail on the muddy shore of the lake, heading into the marsh. The animal’s stride is irregular but about 7" on average, and its trail width is 8".

  

Photo K3

Photo K3 is a closeup of a typical footprint, which measures 4" wide by 5½" long, the toes are 2½" long, and the width of the heel is 1½".

  

Photo K4

Photo K4 is a similar closeup of a footprint, except note there is a faint trace of a smaller footprint in the upper right corner – this smaller footprint is from the same animal.

 

Photo K5

Photo K5 shows a willow twig that the animal munched on as it made its way through the marsh. The tracks meandered through thick brush, mud & water in the marsh.

 

  

Photo K6

The tracks ended when they entered a burrow at the water’s edge – the burrow is shown in Photo K6 and was about 10" wide.
