Habitat: On a frozen lake, amidst a mixture of farms & woodlands, way out in the boonies of extreme northern Vermont.
Time of year: Early March.

  

Photos F1 & F2 show the overall trail in 4 inches of fresh, powdery snow on the frozen lake. Direction of travel is towards the camera.

Photo F3 is zoomed in to show the stride & trail width. Stride was exactly 19 inches almost every single step; on 1 occasion the stride was as small as 17 inches. Trail width was 6 inches. Note this animal has perfect direct register.

Photos F4-F6 are close-ups of typical footprints. Footprints ranged 2¾-3 inches wide by 2¼-2¾ inches long.
