- Location: Green Mountain National Forest, southern Vermont.
- Time: Nov 3. Bark scrapes appeared very fresh; perhaps 1-2 weeks
old when photo was taken.
- Ecosystem: Mixed hardwood forest (maple, beech, birch), threaded
with many streams. Very close to an active beaver pond.
- Tree is a red maple, about 5" diameter. Scrapes were 3-4 feet
off the ground.
- Scrapes were discovered during a Paul Rezendes Nature Programs
tracking workshop.
